Late last year, we sent out a sampler to celebrate Ernesto’s 70th birthday. In each sampler there was a QR code that allowed customers to select their favorite blend based off the ribbon color on the cigar. These packs were available either at events or through pufrchasing a box of E.P. Carrillo cigars.
After several months of voting, the winning blend became the latest E.P. Carrillo Limited-Edition. It’s a toro size, 6 inches long by 52 ring gauge, and production is limited to 500 boxes of 10 cigars. Made with a Mexican wrapper, Ecuadorian binder, and a mix of Dominican and Nicaraguan fillers, the Platinum Bash is a real winner!
Listen to Ernesto and Lissette talk about this winner and how Ernesto feels about the winning blend. The other cigars that didn’t make the win are still som eof Ernesto’s favorite blends. The tobaccos used are special to him and that’s how they made the cut for the extraordinary celebration.

What to Look For in a Cigar
Cigars are a great way to unwind and slow down from the stresses of life. They are also a fun, social activity. But before you jump into the smoking scene, it’s important to know a little about cigars and what to look for in them.
First, decide what you want your smoke to taste like. Some cigars have strong flavors that are sweet and spicy, while others offer a balanced, medium- to full-bodied experience.
Once you have your taste in mind, it’s time to consider size and shape. Modern cigars come in a variety of shapes and sizes, including the corona, Petit Corona, Tres Petite Corona, Half Corona, Lonsdale, Belicoso, Perfecto, and Pyramid.
The size and shape of your cigar is important because they will affect the amount of smoke it produces, as well as its overall flavor. Beginners usually start with a lighter or medium-bodied cigar and gradually move up to more robust ones over time.
Another important factor to keep in mind is the tobacco used for a cigar. Different cigar-makers use varying grades of tobacco to make their cigars, which can drastically affect the flavor profile of the smoke.
Tobacco Grades:
Cigars should be made from the highest quality of tobacco available. The higher the grade, the better the cigar will taste and smell. A cigar that is made from poor-quality tobacco will be unable to draw and burn properly, which will drastically affect its flavor.
