The Handmade Art of Smoking Cigars

Cigars are a handcrafted product that requires a lot of hands to create. Hundreds, if not thousands of pairs of hands touch each cigar before it makes it into a humidor and is sent out to a store.

The defining characteristics of a quality cigar are that they are made of high-quality tobacco, properly constructed, and have a pleasant aroma, smooth draw and a well-balanced flavor. They should also be able to burn evenly, and they should be stored in the proper conditions (at a relative humidity close to the one where the tobacco was grown) to ensure they are fresh when you want to smoke them.

There are three parts to a premium cigar: the filler, binder and wrapper. The filler is composed of a variety of tobacco leaves, which are then blended together to create the final cigar. The binder is the thicker, unevenly colored leaf that binds the filler together and holds it all together. The wrapper is the visible outer leaf that is the most expensive component of a cigar.

Tobacco is the most common substance used to make cigars, but there are many different types of tobacco. Some are stronger than others. The tobacco is then cured, fermented and aged to maximize its flavor and strength.

A cigar is the result of a meticulous process that takes many, many hours to complete. Each step from picking the tobacco at the farm to aging it in a warehouse is done by hand.
